Wendy Aartsen

Since 2010 Scientific Officer/Project Manager for EU projects within the programmes FP6, FP7, IMI and currently supporting applications for Horizon2020. Project manager with a scientific background in Pharmacology, Genetics and Neurobiology.

My experience as scientist, project manager and entrepreneur make me believe that Life Sciences projects/consortia in the current working environment can work efficient and make a big impact, if they function as connected organisations using principles based on Holacracy (Ref 1 & 2). In this type of organisations, collaboration, connecting and reflection are key, next to transparency, openness and trust.

I am trained as a Prince2 project manager but recently added Prince2 Agile project management and Holacracy to my portfolio. The BioBusiness Masterclass offered me a broad base and network to develop not only my own business but also to advice others in their journey as entrepreneur.

I strongly belief that multi-stakeholder collaborations can function to their maximum if the team is well fostered and supported with the right tools to take concrete decisions and to make progress in a fast changing environment.

Communication and collaboration are core disciplines to facilitate the project processes especially for international, multi-disciplinary and multi-stakeholder consortia. Tools I use include Basecamp®, Business Model Canvas, Collaborative canvas and Strategyzer®, Belbin® and the Perform Model from The One Minute Manager® and still search for new tools to add.

My passion: making public-private partnerships more efficient in delivering results with high societal impact.

My motto: making your project a success involves more than delivering the Description of Work.
